Busted Eibach Spring - wtf !?!?

New member here, thx to Scottina06 for the invite.

Posted this on the other Jeep boards, figured I would spill some milk here, see if any of you cats lap it up.

Guys, isn't that a little onerous ?

Well, got my upper mounts delivered. But I have a more serious problem, I'll get to that in a second.

Anyway, just a heads-up. I ordered the Moog upper strut mounts K160050 from rockauto.com. What was in the boxes (shipped direct from manufacturer), however, were not for the WK Jeep. They were some other vehicle. Word from rockauto is that Federal Mogul (Moog) misboxed an entire run of upper mounts. So I reordered the KYB part, cause it will probably be a while before FedMogul sorts out their packaging error. So if you do order the Moog parts, expect to ship em back.

OK, now the cluster ****. I don't have a worn upper mount I have a BUSTED EIBACH !!!!! from kit 2839.540 Only 3 years on these POS'

So. I have contacted Eibach, they will warranty all four. The problem is I only have the paypal receipt from Nick (Kolak@kolakperformance.com) dated feb/'07, not the original itemized receipt with the Eibach part numbers.

I left a voicemail and email for Nick/Kolak today, no word yet. I'm hoping he has some records. Dude, if yer reading this, do me a solid, ok ? If anyone knows him, give him an elbow.

Ya know, if I am forced to buy a whole new set of springs, I'm sure as **** not gonna give my money to Eibach. I'll buy the SRT8 springs and swaybar links from Bwoody. Mike over there said they'd fit.

Anyone used the Bwoody springs on their NON-SRT8 Jeep WK ??? They call for a 1" front drop on the SRT8, which I imagine is lower than the 1.2" Eibach drop on a Hemi WK GC. And lower is always better, right ?

EDIT: This just in; Nick at Kolak Performance shot me an email with my invoice. Thanks Nick !!
EDIT2: just fired a Reply to the thread but it goes into outer space. Can we only reply to (bump) our posts once a week ? that's kinda squirrelly.

The site has ***** because the other site did the same thing to jeep garage. The guys here are cool about posting links to other things, except that site

But Bwoody's springs (made by road magnet) have been used on a bunch of non srt WK's, mine included

I am not sure about your strut set up, but the stockers are crap. I am not sure about the kyb shocks, but they seem pretty close to a stock replacement.

Im not sure how low you want to go without going to better shocks/struts

I dropped about 2.5 inches front and almost 3 rear when I went from WK stock to SRT shocks and bwoody springs.

Re: Busted Eibach Spring - wtf !?!?

welcome bro...great to have ya! This is the first i have heard of a wk breaking a spring. Could be harsh weather conditions, paired with a harsh pothole and maybe a manufacturing defect? But it sounds like eibach is standing behind their product.

Re: Busted Eibach Spring - wtf !?!?

OK, fixed my sig line to reflect the vehicle setup. Sorry bout that, hard to guess what I'm talking about without ~some~ detail.

Yeah, yeah. I understand the right to protect ones space. There are a few Jeep boards out there, and honestly the response I got to my threads was really weak. Pales in comparison to my fav board http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/

@yousmell

When I bought the car in '07 with 30 some odd miles on it the struts were shot, I was pretty freaked-out about my new purchazz, it rode so bad. But also confident I could fix it with the right suspension, been down this road before with my 96 Fleetwood, dropped it with Bilsteins and bars and it now runs on rails.

@Robp

Yep, already sent Eibach the pics and called them. They are gonna do me a solid and send two new front springs free of charge. I dont think the BWoody's were available when I had the suspension done in '08, I think the Bilsteins were just then released.

Woulda been cool to get a great big drop out of the Bwoodys. damn
I'm still very satisfied w the combo I have.

The Addco's are pretty stout. Would recommend them, but make sure the swaybar mounts are not the cheap chinese crap. Within a week mine were so much wet noodles (bent in a ridiculous fashion). Luckily I had the originals and made them fit the bigger bar. Still have interference (and squeaks) so I am planning to drill a hole through the swaybar mount and bushing, install a zerk for grease, and use a dremel tool on the inside of the bar mount bushings to make grease paths. voila, greasable swaybar mounts.
