Re: Buying a 2005 WK Hemi tomorrow, ?s on a few things.
Although the manual says TB not serviceable, you can clean the TB, and those that had problems surely went the lazy route, i.e., likely used an organic solvent (carb cleaner) rather than rubbing alcohol and elbow grease, which will not cause any damage. You have to remove the TB from the vehicle to clean it, takes 2 minutes, just 4 bolts and a connector. It took about 2 hours to clean all deposits off, using a old t shirt and alcohol, q-tips in the crevices, until it was 100% clean and looked like new. I installed the BT catch can then and the TB stays clean now, and no gunk buildup is seen at all. The Hemi runs so much better afterward, and also gets better mpg so this is well worth a couple of hours. Alternatively, you can buy a BT catch can and Modern Muscle CNC ported TB (about same price as stock TB)
