Re: CAI on a 5.7

there is only 1(one) true CAI for the 5.7....and that is the Bwoody. The rest are short rams

Re: CAI on a 5.7

Here is the route I went and I did the following to my 08 wk 5.7L:

1) AirAid 310-970 Modular Intake Tube: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ss_T13_product

2) AMSOIL Ea Air Filters: http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaa.aspx

why? Read: http://www.diablosport.com/index.php...137+93cai+tune

later buy these:

3) JET 10183 Thermostat https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ss_T13_product

4) Diablosport Predator U7137 http://www.autoanything.com/performa...A1907A0A0.aspx

5) MagnaFlow Exhaust (catback) http://www.performancepeddler.com/magnaflow.asp
use code: bestoffer4em

Just do homework before you buy.

Re: CAI on a 5.7

I have the Airaid and love it...I get better MPG and I love the sound. True CAI? Probably not (I would imagine it is not as efficent as BWoody, and I have seen intake temp numbers to prove it)...go with what the boys said, get a woody!!!

Re: CAI on a 5.7

Brad did you get all that rain yesterday?

I had the woody and a drycharger (filter for the filter), must have driven through a half dozen puddles I didn't see and no hydrolocking!! It was literally the first storm the woody has been through and now I live w/o fear

Re: CAI on a 5.7

i would stay away from the AFE, i noticed very little difference when i had it on my Wk 4.7V8. I would get the Bwoody intake.

Re: CAI on a 5.7

I got an AFE Stage II and like it but I had not done any research and did not know about the bwoody. In any case, you will need a tune or the PCM will learn itself back to stock in no time.

Regarding the Bwoody vs the rest, are there any figures that quantify the difference ?

Re: CAI on a 5.7

There sure are...I remember Joe (Elvis) posting some info on it, and I am sure Mike @ BWoody or Scott would probably have some exact figures for you...

Re: CAI on a 5.7

Does anyone have any videos of a Bwoddy installed on a 5.7 with stock exhaust? I'd like to hear what it sounds like

Re: CAI on a 5.7

Did anyone read this from my earlier post?

http://www.diablosport.com/index.php...137+93cai+tune

if the 5.7 engine doesnt need the extra air why go the expense of putting in a $400 CAI?

it does seem to help an SRT8 though, but thats not what we are talking about. http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_srt8_intake.htm

fixed.

I read once on the srt8 forum (or maybe another forum) that the bwoody can draw in heat from the road. dont know if this was proven or not though. Can't find the post anymore.

Re: CAI on a 5.7

I know why I bought mine:

Intake sound and exhaust exit. Both are better, and the Jeep runs and sounds like a top!

HAHA I almost put "champ" but that word has a different context thanks to Benno...thanks champ

And Ryan - Got A LOT of rain on Tue night!! Rained all day yesterday and stopped in the afternoon...my hedges needed it!
