Re: caliper covers

Lets just say its not for some people because if they were that damaging then why do some cars come with them as a standard or optional feature?

Re: caliper covers

Higher end cars and some gm cars and I believe the Jeep Srt does. Basically performance vehicles that still won't be necessarily driving 100mph all the time.

You're talking about real BBK's (Big Brake Kits).
Those aren't caliper covers.

...and you don't need a BBK just for driving over 100.
You'll be lucky to hit 80 in most autocross courses. That's where you need better brake components.

Re: caliper covers

The calipers on those big brake kits are covered correct?? The air must be cooling the pads effectively or the kits wouldn't work unless you have more info on this.

Wrong. The BBK caliper is made up of one solid piece of billet aluminum in same cases and cast in others. I'm not just talking about the pads being cooled but also the caliper and components inside of it. Like the piston, seals, and fluids.

P.S. are you joking with me or do you really know this little about brake components?

So you can have pretty calipers and fool people into thinking you have a BBK?
I guess if the next guy were to jump off a bridge you'd follow him. No bueno.
the jump thing I think its an extra comment, please stay within the topic, I appreciate your concern on safety that's why I wanted to get more reviews/feedback before installing it

Re: caliper covers

let me see if i get this right.... im going to glue something to my brakes? with my luck they will come loose someplace in the middle of nowhere on some back BLM road and who knows the damage it will create. must admit it look cool on a street jeep for roaming the malls of america, but kinda thinking that middle of the mojave desert id rather keep it to the basics. considering the rattle can approch, but in the desert i normally stay away from things that rattle. just my two cents for whatever it's worth.
