Re: caliper covers

No doubt it looks cool!

But to me its like buying a Pontiac Fiero, then putting that Ferrari kit on it with badges and calling it a Ferrari. Nope, no it's not.

No no, I'm saying you shouldn't put SRT badges on your regular WK just because you got the body kit and rims.

EDIT: There is an "SRT Design" badge out there though that I think is appropriate.

Re: caliper covers

If I had a regular WK, I would use this only if I could take off the Brembo sticker. And if that means a repaint, then so be it.

I think people should do what they please with their money.

But to answer your question I don't exactly condone it (badging, that is).

I wouldn't be too happy if I bought an SRT8 and a bunch of people were cloning them... but I don't necessarily blame the person who clones them... I blame the person that bought a 'specialty' vehicle that could be easily cloned. It's the same reason I would never by a Mustang or Camaro, etc. A few thousand bucks and that $18,000 6 cyl. Mustang looks like the $50,000 Cobra. Sucks for the Cobra owner. That's why IMO, Vette > Mustang. Because the lowest trim on the Vette is a respectable trim level (unlike the V6 trim on a Camaro or Mustang or Jeep in this case).

Hmmm... see - I don't really mind the cloning. Just don't badge it something it isn't.

If you wanna throw a SRT body kit on your Jeep, with the rims and all the bells and whistles - go for it, because the SRT looks bad ass. But don't go putting an SRT8 badge on it - because it isn't.

Scott's Jeep really keeps coming to mind here. It's as close to the real deal SRT as you're gonna get without being the real thing - but I don't think there is a single SRT badge on it (except for the seats, which I don't really care about). 100% classy IMO.

I don't mind the cloning either. I though we were talking about the badging, lol.

x2.

IMO, cloning is perfectly fine (minus any badging). But it still would deter me from buying a vehicle that a lower (less respectable) trim level could easily mimic.

anything can be cloned. Did anyone see that build of the Hummer clone? It was incredible....
