Not sure on the exact power physics and torque calculations but the way I see it.

3" piping versus a smaller 2.5": Larger amount of air can pass through with less restriction. Now the only downside is that you need an air intake that can suck in huge amounts of air. Without that people say it causes low end torque loss.

Maybe someone else can chime in on this.

Re: Calling all WK 4.7L owners

mzh29... how does that sound inside the cabin? I kinda like the sound it has.

The 50 series that flowmaster has would be quieter but still have a decent rumble right?

Re: Calling all WK 4.7L owners

This is the night I had it installed, its stock pipes and no res (the 05' 4.7 had no resonator) with an 18in Magnaflow, for me just revving the engine in park makes a totally different sound then it makes under driving conditions. I like it a lot, if I could do it over I might have gone with 3in pipes and the same muffler to try for a few extra HP. It cost 105 shipped for the polished muffler and like 40 to install. The best part is you can drive it quiet or loud especially with autostick I can make it roar, I love it. Oh I also threw a K&N intake on the day before that helps with sound also.

Re: Calling all WK 4.7L owners

Yep the 50 series would be a little quieter.

There is alot of drone with my 40 series, but I've gotten used to it.

Re: Calling all WK 4.7L owners

I run no muffler and two resonators. I dont get the whole muffler thing...its just adds noise and DRONE. Try finding a nice size resonator, have it welded in towards the end of the exhaust, then remove that huge suitcase muffler and weld in a straight pipe.

Re: Calling all WK 4.7L owners

Here are two more vids I just made today from inside. They're not that great, but it gives you some idea, I'll try to make a better one tomorrow. Haven't figured out the whole driving while filming thing yet.
