Camshaft and Crankshaft Position Sensors lifespans

Hi all!

My '06 4.7L WK has almost 106,000 miles and still has original CKP and CMP sensors. Truck runs fine but I know they can die out w/o warning and leave you stranded.

Anybody know the life expectancy on these? One "stealer" says 150K miles; another says I'm already on borrowed time. What is your experience? I'm leaning towards replacing them with BWD parts. Thanks!

My CPS went bad at 30k and it would not start. Towed into Dealer who replaced under warrantee. Typically they are replaced at under 100k as part of preventative maint.

Re: Camshaft and Crankshaft Position Sensors lifespans

I replaced my camshaft sensor at 140,000. It was just starting to go out at that time. Currently at ~170,000 miles and still have the original crankshaft sensor.

Thanks to all who replied.
I think I'll try to swap them out, along with the MAP sensor, before the cold weather sets in if I can find the time. If not, I feel a little more confident now that they'll make it until the spring (maybe longer) based on the mileage you all have on yours. Will have to keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again!
