Can our WKs cause brush fires?

What are the chances of our WKs causing a brush fire by driving over tall grass? Does the underside of our Jeeps get that hot and would adding certain skids prevent that from happening?

I'm pretty sure you'd need a spark of some sorts to start a fire. Heat alone wouldn't do much. I "trail blaze" all the time and have yet to start a fire.

No, you would need to stay parked over very tall dry grass for a long period of time to light it, or a spark.
I'm certified in the state of pennsylvania in wildland fire behavior and wildland fire fighting and am one of 10 members of our department on our forrest fire crew, all of us have our certification to fight them anywhere in the commonwealth.
But thanks for worrying about it! Most people are extremely careless and never think about it, we had one this year get a running start on us and when the call when out it was blowing up to the side of a house, we got on scene and didn't think we would be able to save the house but the 4 of us on the first truck in knocked it back enough to save the house with only minor burn and heat damage, but that fire burned for 9 hours before it was under control. People don't think before they act, that was started by careless smoking...

Re: Can our WKs cause brush fires?

The exhaust system on any vehicle can get hot enough to start a fire, but usually only if left parked over very dry material. Just driving over it isn't going to be an issue. Now, stopping in tall, dry grass and letting it sit there (especially if it's idling) is a bad idea. But moving? Not really an issue.
