Question Can You Bolt on a SRT8 manifold onto a 2005 5.7 hemi? grand cher limited?

Hello,
I joined here to read the thread about this but by the time I went through the registaration process I was so far away from the post I wanted to participate in I had to post this one.

DOES anyone know if I can bolt on an SRT8 Intake Manifold to my 2005 5.7 Cher Limited?

If so,
what kind of gain in HP would a realize?

Thanks

bostonP

You can't. The heads ona 5.7 are different then the 6.1. The intake ports don't match up. Maybe someone else knows if there is some kind of an adapter plate that goes between the manifold and the head on each side but i doubt it. If there was, and it was relatively easy to do, more guys would have done it. You can however swap your 05 intake with a 09+ 5.7 intake and get some power gains as the newer one flows better. But here you definately need an adapter plate for both sides as the intake ports on the newer 5.7s are different than the older ones. This has been done by at least one other guy on this fourm but he also added a hotter cam and other performance internals so it will be hard to determine from him exacxtly what the power gains were from just the intake alone. This newer intake is also known as the Eagle intake by some. If what I am saying is incorrect, and I am speaking to others who may be reading this and know more than I do about this, please correct me.

They do have adapters, and a few have done it. You're probably going to loose a little power though. It's like putting too big a carburetor on a car. Looks nice, but won't flow properly. If you're going to do headwork, headers/exhaust and a cam, then it might be different. Also, I believe you have to use the 6.1 fuel rails too. And, the 6.1 uses bigger (higher flow) injectors, which you don't need on a 5.7.

09 eagle intake and srt intakes have the same ports

So yes you can swap them out, but you need to either port match the heads or the intake, or buy the adapter head plate. A few different companies make them... Stolen off LX forum:
