So I took the truck by the car-wash to rinse it off. While I was washing it, i ran over the front grill and BAM a huge chunk of chrome peeled off the grille. I was so pissed. I wasnt that close with the high pressure and there was nothing on the grill that I could even see that could have caused it. Just my bad luck again I guess!!!!
Anyway it was a good excuse to put my white grill back on and put the black mesh in. I like the look with the stock one back on but I think the chrome looks good on white as well.
White with Black Mesh
sorry for the shotty pics, they are from my cell phone.
yea dont pressure wash it at all if there are any rock chips in it i guess. The grille itself cheap plastic with a chrome film over it so i guess if you have any small chips, dirt can get under it and then lift the film off.
Ouch, wouldn't expect that to happen even with a pressure washer! Did you get the grille from eBay or is it the Mopar/Jeep one? Could see an aftermarket grille doing that but not an original - if it was a Mopar/Jeep part I'd take it back to get a replacement as that's poor...
Although I do like the color-coded grille a lot!
It was from the factory. I tried taking it back but they said they only warranty parts for 1 year and the fact that i cut the inner part up for the mesh grill wouldn't really go over well. I really didnt expect it from a factory part as well. It was very frustrating.
Damn, that sucks man. I had a chrome grille for mine and although it pitted really easy I never had any issues like that even with the pressure washer...
I purchased the mesh at Lowes. Its a sheet of lathe (i think thats what it is called) that only was $4. I primed, painted and cleared it and put it on!
Why don't you swap out the black mesh with chrome mesh? That way you have both chrome, with the white  I think the white grille's better but if you miss a little of the chrome you could always re-mesh
True. After having it on there for a week or so now, I really like the look of the white better. I want to have the side moldings painted white as well as the lower moldings below the doors and the front bumper.
