Challenger Srt Headers on Jeep?

Hey guys, Just wondering if Challenger Headers would fit on a 2006 wk? I can't find any jeep headers but there is a nice set of unused Challenger headers near me. Thanks

Re: Challenger Srt Headers on Jeep?

I seriously doubt it. The Challenger LY platform is just like the earlier Charger, Magnum, 300C LX platform, except it has a slightly shorter wheelbase. I have both a WK and an LX with tubular headers, and having just removed, repaired (cracks) and replaced the custom ones on my WK. I can tell you that the LX exhaust manifolds/headers DO NOT fit on the WK. While I had the passenger side one off of the WK, for giggles, I tried to fit one of my stock LX exhaust logs onto the WK. The problem is the collector hits the frame. Here's a few pix to illustrate. On the stock logs, the smaller one is the Hemi WK and the bigger one is the Hemi LX.

Re: Challenger Srt Headers on Jeep?

American Racing now makes a set of headers for the 5.7L Jeep Grand Cherokee.

jeepgcoman, are you still running the srt headers on your WK?

Were they worth the upgrade?

Thanks,
-Chris

He has custom one off headers, not the 6.1 factory manifolds. Honestly, I think the AR headers are the best bet for the least amount of headache. A little pricey but you are getting a quality product and complete setup with cats etc. I say that now because I haven't installed them yet. I will report back one I do in July.

Re: Challenger Srt Headers on Jeep?

I have the SRT headers installed and it was not an easy job, but once done properly and completely, you will be very happy with it and your engine will breathe better. If you want the easy route, go with a ready made system. I went with a more challenging yet more rewarding route by designing my own stainless steel exhaust system and taking out the CATs.

Like hound said, mine are a one off mid length custom set, not the SRT's. A little over 5 years ago they cost me about $1400 with a complete 3 in. cat. back Magnaflow/Xcelerator AP exhaust system. I have just had to have some cracks repaired and installed new bolts and Nord-Lock wedge washers so I'll never have to re-tighten again.

As for whether they're worth it, I say 100% yes.....a must if you want to get a little more power and fuel economy out of the Hemi, and especially a good starting point if you want to do further mods......performance or fuel economy improvement. You can look at my signature and, with those mods. (and a few more now), I've gained nearly 100 more horsepower over stock.

I am going to wait and see how hound's install goes. The only problem I would face if I ever wanted to switch to the AR headers would be finding someone to do the hook up. My current headers/exhaust system uses the stock cats. in the stock position, but the AR's move the cats. and my exhaust guy says they can't hook them up because of my state's smog laws. If he is caught doing "non-stock" installs, he could face fines and/or be shut down.
