Re: Click Click Truck won't start

Ok I was worried...they quoted me $256 out the door with starter, shield, and labor. I'll let them do it so it's under warranty and it's a pain to replace.

Re: Click Click Truck won't start

The tranny cooler lines are on the passenger side; the starter is on the drivers side. Not sure why they charged ya for that 06H... $256 doesnt sound too bad at all. Let us know how it all works out cain

Re: Click Click Truck won't start

Guy..just do the starter yourself... its literally 2 bolts after you take off the plastic shield...It'll only end up costing you around 70 bucks after returning your old starter....

The shield is like a tin foil and fiber sandwich, but definitely reusable. Don't let Gossamer fool you, there's 2 bolts and 1 nut that holds on the positive cable

Re: Click Click Truck won't start

my dealer told me that the replacement starter has different mounting holes for the shield. they said you cannot reuse the old shield. the 3.7L, 4.7L, and 5.7L must use different starters because there were 3 different shields.

My BS meter is going off here. At least with the 4.7 the old one just bolted right on the new starter.

The plastic splash shield is def reusable... It's about 6 bolts and it comes right off.. just have to screw it back up when your done...

Re: Click Click Truck won't start

I was told too the shield is not reusable. I don't like the idea of having to mess with the driveshaft either. So $256 out the door is a steal to me. Plus it's warrantied and I don't have to mess with it all and the heavy steel shield plate.

Believe me, there is no way in hell that starter is coming out with the 4.7 without removing the 'shaft. We tried.
