common problem or not

anyone get any leaks in their tranny cooler hoses, i just want to know if its a common problem or not. just came back from the stealership and they quoted me 600 dollars to fix that and a tranny oil change. don't want to pay it, but i know i'm gonna have to bend over and take it

Re: common problem or not

its very common on wk. but why go to the stealer and get the same crap gonna leak again. I would go to a trans shop and see if someone can make you a replacement using high pressure lines. a perm fix.

Re: common problem or not

I know for a fact that the local trans shop around me does make replacement lines, and odds are it will be a little cheaper, or about the same in the cost dept without getting the same leaky crap from the stealer. You could also try hydraulic supply stores like Tipco or Colliflower, I had to get a line made from them once for a old Audi 5000 because nobody makes the part anymore, there pretty cheap to, and then you could have a good local tech replace them for you.

Had this problem with my 05 a couple of years ago. If I remember they were leaking at a connection behind the grill on the passenger side. Dealer replaced the lines, leak fixed.

Re: common problem or not

Funny, stealership just told me the same thing after an oil change yesterday. They said tranny cooler line coming off behind the radiator was leaking and needed replaced but only quoted me $320. My WK was recently fixed from a front-end collision so I'm gonna take it back to the body shop that did the work and see if it could be related as I remember making a point to tell them that I saw red fluid pooling on the ground under the WK after the lady hit me and it was getting towed off on the flat-bed before I let the dealer ram me from behind.

I have that same thing with mine. I wiped it off to see how quick it leaks and check the fluids. I have to recheck it after I change the plugs today.

Re: common problem or not

Just had my lines replaced too, as they have been leaking. So glad I bought the 100k warranty, as there has been so many things go wrong on this vehicle. I've owned about 15 cars over 33 years, and never had so many issues on any others.

Re: common problem or not

Common problem. They now have a revised part # so they may have fixed the issue. If I remember correctly it was $50.

Mine leak and will be replaced when my new SharaDon stage 3 trans goes in.
