Re: Custom Front Shackles

i really do appreciate all the help guys. my overall accomplishment was to see if i could build these. i did think about stacking to make 3/4" after my last post. i am not sure what grad bolts i have or the weld nuts i used. just pulled themoff the shelf. will look into that though. so since you guys know where it is that i am trying to attach my brackets to...yah or nah?? i do think that adding another bolt for more surface area grip will help and the flush fit against the frame instead of the spacers. or should i try and attach them to the OEM tow hook spot? once again open to ideas and keep tearing my idea apart with your knowledge. i am 21 and have worked in a machine shop for 6 1/2 years now for my aunt and uncles business as a cnc operator and programmer as well as a plasma cnc programing, so i have alot of experience as far as metal fab work goes but lacking in material background. so please it is engouraged of ya'll to help me out to improve. just a good looking prototype.

Re: Custom Front Shackles

I would definitely attach them to where the OEM tow hooks go, that is where S4XC attach theirs and there is obviously a good reason, of you are towing, you'll want a spot as good as if not better than where the tow hooks attach. As far as knowing what grade of bolts you have, it is usually indicated though not always with a YZ G8 with means Yellow Zinc Grade 8 take a look at your receipt and it should indicate weather it is or not. The other thing you can do since you have experience with programming is run your design through solid works or another similar program that can show you where the weak spots are. It will help you to know where you need more and where you can cut back. Se if there is a local college student in engineering that can run it for you for free. It will teach them and will cost you less.
