Re: Da Hood

So I mounted the hood but needed to rethink the washers.

so i know lots of GM cars have these. I found a part number on lx forums so off to the cheby stealer.

bought 2 part # 19120933 nozzles.

like this. you can see one side is a bit high. there is a small tab inside. im going to knock it down then use a baby ty-wrap to make sure the nozzle stays on.

then i too k the nozzle to napa, they had a box of all sorts of connectors for washers. so i bought a tee fitting and some hose. of course I didnt buy enoguh and things are slack but I need to get in there with the covers off and make sure. secure it too.

the pattern is a bit odd but it all works.

tjhere are even holes in the cowl near where the wiper arms are to pass the hose through so no drilling. on both sides

another idea is to go to pick-a-part and find nozzles then off to napa for the other bits.....

Re: Da Hood

the one thing i almost forgot was how much different NAPA is than like Pep Boys or Checker.

as soon as I mentioned I need some misc. washer stuff he goes to the shelf come back with a box full of Tees and adapters etc for the washer hose. then he had like every size hose you could imagine. they made it easy.

Re: Da Hood

I had two "carbon" hoods on my old GTR Skyline, one was a wet layup, like yours, the other a true lightweight dry carbon type. I fitted the factory washers to both of them, just measure, drilled a pilot hole, and replicated the factory washer hole shape with a small file. 20 minutes work, and keeps the nice factory spray pattern.
Your idea has merit too Rob, and is stealth

A little hard to see them (painted black), but they're there!

Re: Da Hood

the idea was NOT to drill holes ben. but could be done that way as well........

many peeps get the holes filled on the hood and the fender antenna which i know you already DO NOT have to deal with.

Re: Da Hood

sweet. repping the Garage!

ill get you a pic, from underneath.

its all wide open under there so in my mind lots of cooling. the worry is lots of water when it rains, so im working on some kind of a plug for the front. It seems like 2 pieces, the outer shell and then the inside part. probably how they get the mounting nuts in correctly and such.
