I work for a dealership (non jeep) and I take huge pride in what I do. I feel sorry for all of you that have had bad expirences. Its hard to make money in this field, but my service manager sees my pride and hard work to fix it right. So I'm being taken care of .

Most people don't understand how a tech gets paid. Its per job, not a salary or hourly, its flat rate.

Technicians (some) do a crappy job to make money, simple. The faster you can do it, the more you get paid. In turn, most techs take short cuts and do more damage in the long run. I've seen it and expirenced it (being mentored). They will even take the best guess to fix something just so money won't slip out the door. Its a nasty cycle.

The thing that bothers me the most is when a customer has a problem with their vehicle and its not under warranty, but they want it for free. Things break people.. and they do whenever they want to. Its fustrating to me because to me thats taking food from my mouth if a customer wants it for free. Warranty times don't pay right and 9/10 times the labor manual for customer pay boosts up to normal time.

Just ranting away.. off the soap box now.

Oh and I work on all my cars in my own little shop. I wouldn't let anybody touch my cars. hehe.

good feedback.

I believe there are good service techs and good service writers and good parts techs and good sales people. The hard/rare part is finding a dealership with all those characteristics in all their staff.
