dieing out

I have an 06 Jeep GC with the 3.7 in it and when it was hot out today it died out on me. Any ideas on what it could be? I had the plugs done already hoping that would fix it.

Re: dieing out

How hot out was it? Was the vehicle overheating.......It's pretty uncommon on injected vehicles but maybe vapor lock.....or crappy gas quality.

Re: dieing out

It was about 90 out. Weird thing is it won't do if the A/C is on....only when it's hot out and the A/C is off.

Re: dieing out

If it only happens at idle, it may be a vacuum leak...or a fuel delivery issue. check your lines for a possible leak and replace the usual tune up items. Don't forget PCV valve and maybe an o2 sensor depending on the mileage. They are cheap if you install them yourself.

Re: dieing out

IAC valve? EGR valve? could be o2 sensor or fuel pump? Maybe even the crank position sensor, a common problem on cars that stall at idle or slowing to idle from what I've seen. If its not one of the things I listed Id be veryyyy surprised. G/L with the fix

Look into the fan operation. Maybe the fan isn't turning on when hot. The fan automatically turns on with the A/C on many cars. Maybe a relay or a temp sensor here.

Good Luck
