Does a larger gas tank for an 06 WK exist?

I was just wondering if there was a larger gas tank that could be installed on the 06 WK. If anybody knows of anything, please let where I can find it. Thanks.

Re: Does a larger gas tank for an 06 WK exist?

The 2008 update is slightly larger, I think a gallon or so.
I also recall one of the Australian aftermarket companies developed a long range tank, have a look at ARB.

The one from Australia is from a company called Long Range Automotive and goes in the spare tire location (WH over there instead of WK). I believe there is also a company in South Africa that does one but the name is escaping me at the time.

Re: Does a larger gas tank for an 06 WK exist?

Thanks for the responses, I'll try putting my google skills to work on this. I used to have a 97 Tahoe with a 33 gallon gas tank, so I'm a little desperate to get that back

Re: Does a larger gas tank for an 06 WK exist?

There is a guy in Jeep Commander.com (Huypilot) i think.. that had a tank made for his XK which is located in the spare tire location and can handle 30 gallons in addition to the stock 20 gallon tank.

Re: Does a larger gas tank for an 06 WK exist?

They're not listing anything for a WH/WK?
Worth an email to them though for sure.

I remember this now, it meant most guys were shifting their spares to a roof basket.

Fourth one from the top on the Jeep list: JEEP GRAND 99 ON
I believe that would translate to 1999 and up Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Re: Does a larger gas tank for an 06 WK exist?

Id believe that prolly wouldnt fly too well in the states. Fuel tank in the spare tire well would be a disaster if you got rear ended.

x2

Read: Ford Pinto

Also, the NTHSA issued a warning not too long ago for 1993-2004 Grand Cherokees saying that due to current gas tank location, these vehicles MAY be more prone to fires in rear-end collisions.
