oh that's an easy fix ... that's the shifter bezel assembly that sits on top of that assembly ... you can either get a used one from a junk yard or you can get one from justforjeeps or you can find one on ebay if ur lucky enough ... here is the thread that will help you termendously

Re: does your wk do this?

yes mine is fixed ... I did mine the cheap way get the part number for yours and search ebay for it once a while you'll see someone sell it on there for cheap ... I'm gonna check through my paypal records and see if the guy who sold it to me has some more ...

I changed out the whole entire shift assembly and he sold it to me for $300 so not that bad

Re: does your wk do this?

i took the bezel to inspect it and clean it and really think its a rip off. there noting in there that would cost 600 bucks. ive seen circuit board in fans more complicate than the one in there im wondering if i can find a easy fix for this, seem the problem is a false contact when in drive hmmm.....

Re: does your wk do this?

ok kool. its SEEMS rather straight forward to me as well. MANY have gotten a few more years out of a part for a 2.99 can of contact cleaner......

IMO, if you use the autostick, or even rest your hand on the shifter A LOT this wears out faster.

Re: does your wk do this?

yea i res my hand on it its seems to happened when i do a lot of short trip all the p to r to d stirs it up. im thinking it might just be the plastic plat that wears down and opens the the circuit causing the problem.

but thanks to the thread is the only reason i got to this conclusion

Re: does your wk do this?

so guys i took it off, cleaned it didnt work

so took it off again and gave it a light very light sanding just enough to get rid of the wear on the track and pulled the contact tab out more to get full contact.

its been 3 weeks so far and no issues and i have been abusing the shifter

one draw back i cant shift down manually so dont do it to the whole thing just the 3 long black tracks!!!

i was told that instead of sanding it i should of used and eraser until the wear was gone so try that guys
