You're driving a car designed by Germans. I'm driving a car designed by the Japanese. But...'Murica!

Hrmm...so you never take anything to the dealership because it's too complex for them to work on? That's a new one to me. Sounds like a bad design if the dealership can't service it.

A big reason greenwayer didn't take it to a dealer is that they didn't want to work on it because of the motor swap.

But since you wanna talk platforms you must really be confused if you think that mazda is purely mazda and don't share it's under pinnings with the edge

It's 100% mazda. Cx5 is pure post ford design.

Re: Done.

Before deciding upon a KL Cherokee Limited (for my wife) I test drove a lot of vehicles in the medium SUV segment; Mazda included.

At the Mazda Dealership I didn't bother with the low spec CX5 Touring (Aust = Maxx) and went for the Top of The Range "Akera" model. After my test drive I found it to be a "nice" car, but it didn't really impress me.

Anyhow our KL Limited is now 5 months old and 6,000km without any issues or problems to report, and it is definitely an impressive car to drive. The Honda CR-V Luxury was our second choice.

PS: I've bought 2 x Used Cars in the past and have been burnt on both occasions. I will never, EVER, buy a second hand car again.

Interesting and good data! The new 9 speeds and those issues are why I didn't consider th3 cherokee personally.

I saw nothing in that sales pitch indicating that the two share anything.

Personally I love the Cherokee's new 9 speed, and to date have had no issues
