The cx5 accelerates about identically to a 2015 V6 wk2. Sufficient but not super impressive.

and why are you telling me to find you some recalls? im nit the one who said it.

you wanna talk fun to drive? my gc will blow the doors off yours CX-crap in a straight line and in a corner. try me some time

Even with bilsteins my wk with hemi wasn't near as fun to drive as my cx5 as a whole.
Have you driven the WK2?

I don't agree at all, I've driven the cx5, yes its a nippy thing around town, but on the highway and power delivery under hard driving, my GC eats it up. Granted I have the diesel WK2, which delivers a bit more down low.

I get 8.5l per 100kms on the highway (28mpg), but that is with extra weight of rock rails/underbody protection and aggressive offroad tyres. In stock and being light on the right pedal I'd expect 7.5l per 100km, (30mpg). Around town I tend to give it some boot so it can be as bad as 12.5l/100km, or 19mpg. But really I like to drive, so fuel consumption isn't a priority for me. What I like is power delivery, handling and offroad ability. Boot space is up there too.

Here is a list of things wrong with the cx-5. Fun times!

Re: Done.

I know there were quite a few issues with CX5 diesels in Australia, oil level issues and exhaust pressure sensor failures resulted in cars that couldn't be driven. No car is immune to problems. Especially with modern electronics.

They look darn near identical to me except for the cx5's fuel economy and how it handles.

Agreed! The diesels have issues. I wouldn't have bought one.

So you haven't driven a WK2? Trying to judge the way a car drives, handles and delivers power through these stats is problematic. Top gear 50-70? Are they manually keeping it in 8th? Real life it will drop to 6th or 5th (in sport mode it will do it more aggressively). As I said I have the diesel and there is no way it takes 5 seconds to go from 50mph to 70mph. I doubt the petrol would either. In the real world the Grand Cherokee will eat the Mazda, its handling will suffer a little from the extra weight, but its still comparable. I did have a Mazda3 (which is the same platform as the CX5). The winding roads I put it down at full speed I can match in the Jeep, but the Jeep feels more planted, I guess that's the 4WD and extra weight.

If you want more go the V8 will do it. If you want more economy, the diesel does it.

Get out of the stats and try real world for your comparisons.

My opinion comes from my wk with bilsteins. Maybe the WK2 is a ton better in the handling dept.

Look at the 5-60 rolling start. Pretty similar. I'm impressed for a 4 banger!

No doubt the 2.5 is a nippy motor.

The WK2 platform was co-developed with Merc for the new ML. Handling is a different world from the WK1 (or WH as we call it in Oz).

You should try driving one for the experience. Stick in sport mode and give it a squirt.
