Re: Door Glass - Tempered vs Laminated?

you would think that the laminated glass would be in the higher priced Limited, Overland and SRT8. Laminated is more expensive, shatter and puncture resistant and a better sound dampener than tempered. The only advantage for tempered is the safety aspect when trying to escape from an accident etc. But it seems from a statement or two here that the laredo has laminated windowsa dn the limited. overland and SRT has the tempered. Doesnt make sense to me. My Laredo def. has the laminated glass....I checked it.

The glass is tempered on side and back windows to allow you (or the fire crew) to smash it should you need to escape from the vehicle... The moonroof is also tempered.

Not true....I have a 2005 Limited and the DS and PS door glass is laminated.......

Hi Milous,

What's your source for the info? It'd make more sense if it was ordered like this given some of the responses on who has laminated and who doesn't.

H=HIGHLINE (Overland)
P=PREMIUM (Limited)
S=SPORT (Laredo)
X=SPECIAL (SRT8)

Re: Door Glass - Tempered vs Laminated?

My Limited 05 has laminated on the side, I had my front replaced and the glass guy told me the side windows cost more than the front window.

it seems like it is double the thickness of regular tint film. it does not affect the movement of the windows at all. i only put it on my front windows at 15% black. they sell the front windows only for about $20. i would think the clear would not be visible unless you are inspecting the windows. the only think that i saw as a problem was dust. normally little particles of dust wont affect tint if only one or two particles get in. since this is so think it stands out. i got one particle on my window and i am really OCD lol. also during the install you have to use ALOT of fluid because this stuff is super adhesive and will stick way quicker than regular tint.

I've been familiar with the codes for many years, they were similar for the WJ although the WJ had a "M" code for "Sport/SE" models but still used "S" for Overland.

H=HIGHLINE (Laredo WJ and WK)
P=PREMIUM (Limited WJ and WK)
S=SPORT (Overland WJ and WK)
X=SPECIAL (SRT8 WK)

Thanks Milous. I wonder why the wk parts PDF calls for laminated glass and my "S" has tempered all around.
