Question Driving without front sway test for noise

I am having clunking popping noise from front suspension I am thinking it is the front sway bar bushings or links. I just had my shock and upper control arm replaced the noise was not there before. So if I take the sway bar off to see if the noise goes away just driving around the block slow and easy will it make it harder to install the bar and links back on . I would be installing them on rhino ramps with the weight of the jeep. I got 50k on the bushing and links. I am running with new oem srt bilstein shocks with wk eibach springs. Next if it is the front sway bar making noise should I stay with my stock bar with this set up or upgrade to the srt 8 bar.

Thanks

Re: Driving without front sway test for noise

alright, if you just had the shock replaced and the noise is present now- go back and check the strut mount bolts and make sure theyre tight. as for removing the swaybar- i would remive it with the jeep flat on the ground- and install it the same way. when you pull your swaybar check the bushings on the links. at 50k your swaybar bushings could be toast, they do go at various times. i just replaced mine this weekend and tightened up the swaybar links and the knock i had in the front end is relatively gone. i run a srt swaybar and stock links.

Re: Driving without front sway test for noise

End links are shot with 50k. When you remove them you will see the mounting holes are gouged out, causing a clunk over bumps. Mine are starting to clunk a bit, after 30k. This is already the 3rd set for me.

Re: Driving without front sway test for noise

I took one off today the side that was making noise and it was gouged out on the top but the bottom was not to bad. I was able to tighten it down good to stop the noise but it needs to be replaced. Also the worst thing I saw was the lower control arm bushing the cleavis bolt goes into looks all cracked.

Re: Driving without front sway test for noise

Also, when doing the links you really need to upgrade the front bar, and get a matched set of sway bars. The understeer is simply horrible with a large rear bar and stock front one, as I found out when I ran a stock front with SRT rear for a short while. The rumor about SRT rear bar only as an upgrade, is a joke.

Re: Driving without front sway test for noise

I got the rear addco bar and oem bar, if I go with srt bar and addco one would I be fine with that set up. I had a front addco bar during the shitty fit problem took off and put oem one back on never looked back.

Re: Driving without front sway test for noise

Front SRT bar will be better than OEM, but they really should be a matched set for proper balanced ride and handling. I'm considering putting the stock ones back on and selling the SRT bars... cornering is better but the ride is rougher over bumps and more bouncy on HWY versus stock bars. Handling is really improved with the Koni FSD versus WK Bilsteins I had previously (ride and handling with those was just aweful), so stock bars might be a nice combo for all around. If so I'll sell the SRT bars with brackets, bushings included.
