You can remove the clear cover but you have to take the headlights apart to do so. I'd leave it in though. In addition to what Scott said, it'll also help diffuse/refract the light.
I got two OEM HID shipped out from different sources to here though APO. Very, very rough travel and both sustained extensive damage. In addition to broken tabs, the back part of the shell broke on both ones at the same spot.
It looks like an adjustment mechanism punched through the plastic. The net result is that the projector lens is misaligned and not secured.
I am interested to see what are the elements of the headlights and how they fit as well as to know what the part that punched through is, what does it do and what/where it is fixed to.
Needless to say that I'd love to know how you took em apart. Just like the 05-07 ?
Pics are better than my explanation …
You can see the small hole under the tab with the red wires. The black round thing is part of the inner assembly. Looks like it rested against the plastic wall rather than was fixed to it.
This is the other one and maybe you can see the hole better coz its a lot larger.
and the end result .... useless headlight assembly
Any help and/or suggestions are welcomed ...
