Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

Maybe unplug the battery and see if that resets something. I would try everything before bringing it to the stealership

if you have a warranty.. go to the dealer (obviously) but I agree.. reset the battery and report back.

Your 4.7 has a cable driven TB, so no, it would not work.

Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

Thanks for the info. Removed the neg cable and reset with no change. Just cranks away. The ETC light flases as its cranking. I sure don't want to go to the dealer, but my concern is a "local" shop my not have the proper equipment to set the electronics. I thought about changing the thottle body but with no clear indication thats the issue, could be money wasted. I read in another post, a fellow had to have his throttle pedal assembly replaced but he said it was because of hesitation. It seems no one has had this no start issue, lucky me. It it helps, this is a 2005 5.7 Limited, magnaflow muffler, AFE Stage 2, 106k miles. Thanks again !!

Maybe it's your starter going.. they've been reported to fail around 40k.

Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

For all that may want he info, I just got the call from the Jeep Stealership. (I mean that literally, you'll see why) they say its the Throttle Body, $450 with labor. Thats life I guess. About my "stealership" comment, they also said the throttle body failure flooded the plugs...please sit down... $484 for plugs and labor in addition to the $450 for the throttle body.. that $30 a plug. I do my own maintenance, NGK's cost me about $60 for the set and about an hour to change. And they wonder how they get a a bad reputation. I will update again if it turns out to be something other than the throttle body. Thanks !!

450 with labor!!!!!!! WTF. I can get you a stock TB, new, for about 1/3 of that price. I think on the Jeeps they take about 15-20 mins to put on.

Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

YEs , I know. The throttle body from Jeep is $190 and what, 4 or 5 screws. With the tow bill and the "traditional" $100 diagnostic I'm in for $200 already. My concern is the plug change. I told them no to the plugs, so if it doesnt run with the new throttle body I will here that its the plugs.

Sorry I didn't say something sooner. I could have gotten you one for 150 shipped to your door.

I really doubt the plugs are washed out from fuel.

Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

Thanks. I couldnt be sure it was the throttle body so I didnt want to start to just change parts. I dont believe the plugs are bad either. The Jeep ran one minute and the wouldnt start the next. No chance for the plugs to foul to the entent there gone. I will know soon enough.
