Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

I'm willing to bet it was just the throttle sensor all along...the other parts would not be necessary, if that's the case

Oh well, at least your on the move again...

Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

My 2007 jeep commander will not start and the electronic throttle control keeps showing up plus my battery, alternator, and starter are all good. How do I fix this problem

My vehicle will not start I tried giving it a jump and nothing happened. Thus happened before and I usually let it sit for the night

Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

I've never seen nor heard of the vehicle not starting because of the ETC, but I've seen them be hazardous to drive because of uncommanded surging, erratic operation and stalling. They've always restarted though.

Do you have some DTC letter/numbers for us? Any further background....recent other work performed, what all you've done so far, will it crank over, how do you know all of the components you listed are good, etc.?

Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

When I turn the key over it does nothing but click. Plus I tried giving it a jump a few minutes ago and it did nothing, and all of my lights work just fine they're not dim or anything. The electronic throttle control light is the only light that's coming in the dash once I try to start my car and then it's saying transmission over temp

Re: Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) .. let's discuss

How many miles on it? How old is the battery? Do you have a code reader, so you can see what DTC's have been set? I'd check the easy stuff first, in approximately this order:
---DTC's with a code reader. Post them here.
---Check the battery, preferably both with a conductance tester and a load tester. This will confirm, with certainty, the battery condition. Also, check the terminals for corrosion and good connections. After a load test, the battery should be recharged overnight. Note: The slightest battery problem with an all electronically, computer controlled vehicle (all of them are now) can and will cause all kinds of issues, with many of them being erroneous.
---Swap the Starter Relay with the A/C Clutch Relay. They're side by side. See if it starts.
---Swap the HVAC Relay with the Automatic Shutdown (ASD) Relay. See if it starts.
---Check the wiring at the starter, especially the yellow wire. These have been known to fail.

This will eliminate a few things. Let us know the results of all this. If none of them resolve your problem, it may be the starter or ???

agreed, I'm curious of the dtc's myself. I have had a throttle body fail too in the past from moisture getting in it (somehow) created a surge issue on part throttle and occasionally put the jeep into limp mode which forced me to restart it

I would say the starter motor.
