Exhaust Question?

'05 GC Limited, 4.7L, around 76k miles. Took my Jeep to a shop today to try and find my exhaust leak. The problem seems to be the drivers side exhaust mainfold gasket (popping/clicking noise, recently got signifcantly louder). Based on what I have read here this seems plausible. The mechanic does not think the manifold is cracked, but will know for sure once he has it apart.

My question is, would you suggest replacing both sides gaskets at the same time. It is obviously cheaper to have it done all together. Is the other side likely to fail eventually (or soon)?

Hopefully the manifolds themselves are OK, but any concerns about life expectency on those? Any opinions would be appreciated.

BTW, the shop quoted 2.8 hours to do one side. An additional 1.3 hours to do both sides.

Re: Exhaust Question?

Thanks for the response. After looking at the write up (which was very well done), I decided to have my mechanic do the work, but only on the driver's side. Thanks again, my neighbor's will appreciate it.
