Explain the NV245

How do I know when the NV245 is in 4 High? Is there a way or you just go with it will enguage when needed? I have service 4wd system error when trying to move into 4LO, does this mean I don't have 4 high either? When its slick out and the ESC light comes on is this anything to do with 4WD?

Well as I don't have much experience on the NV245 transfer case, I can tell you the the ESC has nothing to do with 4WD. The ESC contains both the traction control and electronic stability programing. the light come on when it slick out is most likely traction control kicking on. Does the vehical seem to lose power when it is on? if it does, that is the traction control working in two ways. one, it applies the brakes to the wheel/s that the system see's as slipping. (using wheel speed sensors to do this). The other way the system works is by limiting engine power. On my RWD, the effect is very abrupt, the truck will fall on its face so to speak.

Thats how it feels when it comes on, so I guess its just the traction control then.

You may need a flash for it, I helped out another on here and it needed a flash, issue was with the transfer motor/solenoid

he had the flash done, I believe for the recall, but his 4LO didn't work after, it was an error in the flash

Hi you have always 4 high 4 low engages when you pull the magic shifter .

I just had similar as my problem 4 high is working properly with no problem.
TCS ,ELSD, ESP and all work as usual , that surprised me also
It's the shifter motor of the 4 low that blocked , you don't get any error message with a normal scan tool .you can't get in 4 low
