Red face Feeling like a newb, busy these days and need some help

Coolant leaks, brakes and some other things to consider. That's what's on my mind for the last few weeks. I've been so busy lately, haven't had time to sign on and participate on the forum but I was hoping to receive some participation from you all. I have a Jeep and it needs to be fixed, often more than I wish to admit. I just ran out of my warranty a few hundred miles ago and I'm due for some work on the rig.

I need new brakes and rotors on all four corners. I want those black rotors that I've seen here on the forum, but I can't find them anywhere. I'm not concerned about slotted or drilled rotors, I just want a tried and true company that I can purchase from without worrying about the source of the metal and it's quality. I've always bought OEM and I'm not far from going down that route again, but what pads should I buy?

The EGR valve is also on the list. Has anyone compared the "auto parts store" EGR to the Mopar unit? Is there any difference in quality between the two?

Spark plugs are on my list, I plan on buying them again from ROCKAUTO.. I bought sixteen plugs last time for under $30 and I was really happy to have them installed for $127 in labor. For anyone reading, I bought Champion 570 copper plugs.

Water pump. This is another issue I'm at a loss over. If it turns out that my water pump is bad, the new one to be replaced will be my third pump. I guess this is something a shop has to do to test the system when it is cold to determine if the coolant leakage issue I've been having is due to the pump, hoses or the radiator (any known radiator issues out there?). I bought a JET thermostat, and I was getting leakage after a while so I bought another one plus many clamps for various hoses to make sure they're on tight but it still leaks like crazy and occasionally the needle will point due north on hotter days with the A/C on. No major overheating issues to note. How much is a water pump?

I have a crack in my valve stem on my right rear tire. I need to add air every few days and I was wondering where is the best place to get one for a TPMS equipped Jeep?

I'm probably going to change all of the o2 sensors because I get the occasional P 013A code which has something to do with the sensors.

This is a list of things that I need to purchase, and I would like to have all the parts and just dump them and this laundry list on my speed shop for them to fix. Then after that I'm prepared to pay for anything else that they notice (I've contemplated a brake and coolant flush).

I plan on tweaking my CMR tune that I haven't had installed for months now.. (http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php...ight=dyno+hemi), but first things first is to make this Jeep feel like new again. I have 86k miles on heem and I would like to have it ready to tackle another eighty-six.

Things that I have done to this point is the 4x4 service and oil changes. The transmission was serviced at 55k miles and I think I'll change the fluids down there next year. I've looked at wkjeeps for other things to do, and I'm running out of ideas. I have the extra cash to knock all this out so if you all have any opinions or ideas that I've missed, let me know and I'll try to check back.

I appreciate the insight and thank you for the help.

Re: Feeling like a newb, busy these days and need some help

I believe the rotors you are referring to come from r1concepts, a vendor here. Their premium line comes with a black e-coating on the non friction surfaces and they come in drilled, slotted, both, and neither. Pads you will have to read others reviews on, I prefer ceramic for their low noise and less visible dust on the wheels, but they dont always seem to stop as well until they are warmed up.

If you are near a discount tire shop they should be able to replace the valve stem no problem.

I dont know enough about the hemi to be of much help on the rest of your list, but when you fix whatever is leaking in the coolant system you might as well flush it then when you will be draining part of the system anyway.

Also, I have heard Jeeps are picky about o2 sensors and dont like aftermarket, especially Bosch. They have kinda been on my list but no codes yet so I have put them off. On my WJ I believe the OE sensors are made by Denso, so buying that brand somewhere other than the dealer should be ok, but I'm not sure if they changed that for the WK.

Good luck with everything and remember: Just Empty Every Pocket!

Re: Feeling like a newb, busy these days and need some help

Thank you very much! Do you offer the black coating on non premium rotors? Just curious.

I bought a TPMS valve stem/sensor off eBay for thirty. I found a new Mopar Egr valve on eBay for sixty seven. Ordered plugs. I got an oil change yesterday and added seafoam to my full tank. Now just gotta find time to have the coolant system looked at.....

Ya I read a great writeup on an ls1 forum. Just pour, no funnel. Full tank! Once the gas nozzle clicks, just add seafoam and hit the trails to slosh it up and mix it up good lol. Don't fill up until the gas light comes on or else you'll just dilute the solution.
