Fj = wk?

So my friend was trying to convince me that his FJ cruiser was equal to my WK 5.7 with QDII. He said that you can build an FJ to out wheel and Dd a WK any day blah blah. This got me thinking.

With the aftermarket support and current DIY mods... would an FJ be a better choice for DD/Week end warrior? What other SUV would be even a better choice, land rover?

Just something to think about lol

Re: Fj = wk?

With enough $$ you could probably build a toyota corolla that would "out wheel" a wk. If you don't mind being seen in that abomination, then the FJ seems like a decent platform. But again why would you want to when you can rock a bad ass GC.

Re: Fj = wk?

FJ is a sorry attempt of an off road truck. Toyota to me is a joke, not to mention that they have more recalls then honeymoon on Vegas.. LOL

I really don't like the FJ's at all, but I don't think I'd mind having one like this:

Re: Fj = wk?

I don't think it's a fair comparison. The FJ would compare better with the 4 door Wrangler, or the old XJ Jeep...but not the GC.

It would probably "out-wheel" the GC out of the box.

Re: Fj = wk?

im sure we have all test drove the fj, if you havent well i must say that its not too bad of a ride. but it lacks a few features that i think are ideal for a daily driver- things like an accessible backseat with room for 4 not 3. its bulky, i think the styling is nice- but i cant remember how many threads ive seen on their forum about the frames cracking on those things. i mean toyotas has had their share of capable from the factory wheelers. i still like my wk over the feel of the fj- yea its weird yet cool looking and it sets higher than a wk stock but the ride just isnt there.

Re: Fj = wk?

I was skeptical about the QDII's capability, being a TJ owner. But after some moderate Colorado 4-wheeling, I'm a believer now, especially on ice/snow.

Re: Fj = wk?

haha... wonder what responses i would get posting on an FJ forum!! =P It was just soemthing to think about, I am in no way thinking about getting one. Just wanted to see what you guys had to say about it.

Makes me want to build my WK up and go beat the crap out of it to see how she does... but @ 140k miles.... I should probably keep it easy. Or get thinking about a new engine being built. haha

Re: Fj = wk?

my good friend has a FJ and its not too bad. I prefer the ride of the WK tho. Not too sure how it;ll do vs the WK in offroading but with enough $$$ i bet you can make it do some impressive things.

Not a bad looking truck but come on, our Jeeps are sooo much sexier!lol
