Front axle question

Will i have any problems driving without my front CV axles?? my thoughts would be that they would not effect anything, opinions?
The point of this is to keep my CV axle from popping out of my hub since my lower control arms will be relocated with the Superlift drop brackets.
I know this is a weird question but bare with me.

Re: Front axle question

It'd probably be a lot easier to remove the front driveshaft?

Hmm, that might be easier but would it be safe?

I'd assume safer than removing front axle shafts?

Re: Front axle question

If you pull the front axle shafts the diff fluid will leak and water can get in. BAD IDEA.

Why would you install a lift that will make the shafts pull out? I dont understand how the jeep can function if the lift causes such issues. Is there a fix for this issue?

Re: Front axle question

There is, i will drop the differential later with the brackets supplied in the kit. just can't do that until i get the vehicle to a welder to install the reinforcement plate.
This kit requires that i cut the existing crossmember to allow the front drive shaft to have room ones i drop the differential. but since i can't do the welding part, i want to install the rest of the kit so that i can take it to a different shop to have them weld the reinforcement plate, then i can get it home and reinstall the CV axles and drive shaft back on. the only reason i want to remove the drive shaft is to keep the front diff from rotating and causing the oil to spill.

Re: Front axle question

Ok then do this. install the whole kit. Drop the front X member. Buy some 1"x1" swuare tube from Home depot. Buy some longer bolts and washers. Drill a few holes and make your self a temporary X member drop until you can get it done right. If you need more info pm me and i can walk your through it. i used to make x member drops for my friends.

Re: Front axle question

Sounds like a good idea. I'll see how far i get, i know i will be pissed so i might end up dropping the entire front diff and leaving it in the yard! lol i get like that sometimes when i have to wrench in this cold.

Re: Front axle question

Thats why if i dont have a garage to work in and a garage to let it warm up in over night i dont wrench when its cold any more.

Before when i had my lifted XJ i spent way too many below 20* days wrenching out side or in cold garages. Now if i wrench i do it in warm weather or find a heated garage to use.

Ive installed lift kits on varying difficulties in 7 jeeps in cold temps trying to do it before loss of light or heat. Now i say, f*** that noise.

Re: Front axle question

You should be able to pull the shafts and have it roll. The front diff uses stub shafts that have a flange that the CV shafts bolt to. The stub shafts have the oil seal for the diff. The problem that I think you may have with this is the transfer case has no 2 wheel, or 4 HI locked mode. I don't know how it will handle the sensors telling it that the front just keeps spinning.
