Re: Fuel Economy - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7L V6

Hi Guys,
I followed most of your suggestions and got a complete services done, which includes oil change (high mileage synthetic oil..SAE 5w20), changed spark plug and also used Lucas Oil Fuel Injector Cleaner.
I can feel the difference already, it drives smoother than before, haven't been able to calculate gas mileage yet since I just got it out of the garage.
I'm also planning on installing a cold air intake as suggested by one of you but I guess I'll wait to see how changes made already affect. Any suggestions on cold air intake will be great.

Thanks all !

You might wanna go ahead and replace that PCV valve. It's only ~$3. Might as well just replace it too.

Re: Fuel Economy - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7L V6

Thanks again guys!

Gas Mileage has increased up to 4.2 mpg in an average and that's a big difference.
Hi lll2for3lll, I have the PCV valve in mind which I will replace for sure ASAP.

Here is my dash ecometer reading...

I calculated MPG (reserve to reserve), 8.3 is what I'm getting, getting worse by day.

Re: Fuel Economy - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7L V6

That is weird, I had a similar experience as you (not nearly as drastic though), and I just went and had all the fluids changed, and boom, back to normal...

Since putting in my k&n short ram air charger, I'm averaging 19.7 or so, but with 60-70% highway driving... the rest highway freakin traffic... That's up from about 18...

my dealership just told me last oil change next time i come in i have to have all the plugs and fluids replaced, my mpg's have gone down not as bad as yours though but i also need new tires so that could be a factor too. my dearlship said it would cost around $500 to do all that and takes like 4 hours just to let you know cant wait for next time haha

Re: Fuel Economy - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7L V6

I had a similar problem on my jeep after using a fuel additive which was suppost to clean the fuel injectors. Very soon after using it, my fuel milage went worse, but i also had a power dip when passing at highway speeds. Turned out to be the fuel filter/pressure regulator (they are both combined on the WJ, donīt know how it is on the WK). Changed it and all went back to normal.

Re: Fuel Economy - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7L V6

A couple other things that can drastically effect the mileage are the 02 sensors (~$120 for all four), and the MAP Sensor (~$20-25). If you have over about 60K on it, I'd look at the 02's first. It's not worth having them checked, so if you think they are suspect, just replace them. I have a way to monitor mine so I know how they're working. When they go bad, or become lazy, they tend to send a "rich" signal to the PCM....hence more fuel usage. For more info., see this thread: http://jeepgarage.org/showthread.php?t=20300

Re: Fuel Economy - 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.7L V6

Like everyone has said I would recommend a full tune up. This should clear up any fuel economy issues. I personally would not recomened doing the CAI as others have suggested unless you plan on also upgradeing your exhaust to me there is no point unless you do both.
