Re: Fuel economy 5.7 hemi

I have the AWD HEMI!!! Wife gets 14.. I get 15.5 combined city and highway. About 20 on the highway if I stay below 70. I gotta say there is nothing wrong with getting decent mileage and still have the Hemi power when I need it!!!

Oh and it is still stock at 51K! Except for the standard maintence and the cleaned TB.

John

Re: Fuel economy 5.7 hemi

Here is mine:
I just drove from Winchester, KY to Louisville, KY the last weekend. That was 180miles round trip with the cruise set on 75mph on the GPS. I filled up with shell 93 when I left and went back to the same station to fill up when I got back and my computer said 18.1. I was tickled to death, however, I calculated it with my GPS and it was 16.8. Still wonderful to me. I average about 12.3 in town.
Now, when I had 265/70/17 MT's and a 3.5" lift, I couldn't get much more that about 14 on the highway. Now I am running SRT8 Eibach springs, 275/40/20's on SRT8 Replica's and a Predator tuner.

by the way my speedo is only fast by abou 1.35%.

Jon

X2. Probably because I have the 7-spoke wheels.............

The 5.7L HEMI's are sensitive to throttle and do best on cruise control. I run 33.5 psig (cold) in the tires.

If you have over 50K miles, consider changing EGR valve (RHS front behind alternator) and PCV valve (RHS rear on top of intake manifold). They can have a hidden negative effect (i.e., bad performance with no DTC's).

Re: Fuel economy 5.7 hemi

4" BWoody, Borla exhaust, 91 CMR toona tune

With the MDS disabled I have been getting 14-15 around town and 19.5 highway...this was @ 75mph or more over about 400 miles two weeks ago...my best was 21.5 mpg over 600 miles (stock tune, intake/exhaust on with mds enabled) and that was 70-80mph the whole time. Mine is a 2wd so that prolly helps me out a little...just filled up my tank yesterday @ $4.40 per gallon = $75 I can't believe how expensive gas is getting...oh well gotta pay to play.

Just did a 0-60 this am...5.1 secs so I could care less about the mpg's right now as that puts a huge on my face HAHA
