Right at the sign that says," Customer Parking ....Toyota Owners, please back in".

Thinking out loud: Sounds like something associated with the Front Drive Control module, since it re-set itself after re-starting the engine. Perplexing part is that power brakes are vacuum-driven and power steering is hydraulic-driven. If the engine continued running normally, at least one of these should have worked (but obviously they didn't or you wouldn't have posted). I'll keep researching '08 WK FSM for clues.

Consider a report to NHTSA if it happens again.

Re: Fun morning.... Loss brakes/steering

THEY SUCK!!! Report to the BBB, trash em on any forum you can, tell all your family/friends, start a riot with pitch forks uhhhh, well that last one is a bit much but hey, sometimes you gotta take matters into your own hands lol

On the real, find another good dealer near you and deal with them only maybe? G/L with the fix, keep us posted in case anyone ever runs into the same thing (hopefully not literally lol)

Re: Fun morning.... Loss brakes/steering

Looked through the FSM in the Steering and Brakes sections. Didn't see anything that jumped out as a possible common cause.

I know that this question is outside the box, but how old is your battery? Been seeing a common thread on the forums with '05 WK's on the original battery having strange symptoms & behaviors. The electronics modules do not like low-voltage conditions at all. [Both the Brakes sections and the Steering section listed low voltage as a possible area to investigate. Need a StarScan tool to follow their logic.]
Sears will do a battery capacity test for no-charge. Voltage may be OK, but insufficient battery capacity to fully power everything up, especially if a cell is going bad.

Thanks.
The original Battery was replaced a few years ago, maybe 3 or so. I replaced it with... I think a Duralast, I will have to check though. I know I bought it from autoZone.

Start with a battery capacity test. After 3 yrs, it's time to look. Sam's Club has an Energizer with a 3-yr full replacement warranty for ~$90.

Since you're in MI, you'll probably need it soon anyway in 3 months, since Summer here is 3 weeks of bad sledding.............

Wait till a Saturday when their showroom is full of potential customers then go off at the top of your lungs about the problem and watch how fast they try to pacify you. LOL
