With this being my 1st post, I just wanted to say that this is a great board! I have found alot of useful info on here.
Im looking to get a Cherokee within the next year. I will be looking at 06+ used with a budged of between 15-20 and less than 50k miles.
I absolutely love srt8. I think its one of the sweetest suvs on the market. So that would definitely be my first choice even if I had to drop a bit more cash.
But with that said, the jeep will be used as a primary veh to tow a boat (roughly 5k lb) and I have read that 5.7 hemi is rated to tow nearly double of srt8. How close is that to the truth?
I realize that srt8 will require some customization to accept a hitch, but if I go with limited (not really interested in overland), I will be looking to at least fit it with srt8 wheels and a drop to match, which I figure will cost me about 2k.
I also have read that alot of you guys are happy with your 4.7s. The question I have on those is how hard is it to get a set of long tube headers for it? I read that they must be special ordered for the hemi, and a set of LTs would definitely be on top of my mod list. Also how much is it rated to tow?
