My side view mirror keeps moving on its own, queue spooky music. Seriously through the mirror is always out of wack (always seems to go to far out as opposed to in). I know its not being accidentally hit since I always keep the knob centered. I was thinking it was a loose screw, but not really sure where to start. Anybody else experience this? Any help would be appreciated.

Nope seat memory is on, and I'm the only one that drives the jeep.

For some bizarre reason, there are two functions built into the WKs that are not turned on. Either the dealer can turn them on with their StarScan thingy or the AEV EGR http://www.aev-conversions.com/products/modules/. One of the functions is your turn signal will flash three times by just lightly depressing the switch without pressing it all the way down. I know it sounds silly, but it is one of the things on my Jeep that has ruined me for other vehicles. The other is when shifted into reverse, the rear view mirrors automatically tilt down. Then when shifted into drive the mirrors tilt up. It sounds like the reverse mirror function some how became activated just on one side.

Starscan is a rip off, 10 mins with a computer and they want 100$ or more

thats what i told the guy and he gave me some bs about how the machine is expensive and they have to train their techs. i was like here i have the instructions no need for training (on j4j.com they have the instructions for how to program the foglights). and i was like every other dealer in the area is charging 50 im not payin more than that and i wont come back here if you dont do it for that. rip off oh well at least my fogs look good and work with the headlight switch now lol

I honestly don't think it's the reverse function because the mirror tilts the opposite direction. Plus it does not seem to correlate with reverse. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for it, that's why I'm thinking a loose screw of some kind. Anybody have a diagram of how the sideview is assembled?

A shot in the dark, but with my previous WJ I had the occurrence that intermitted the EVIC sounded its beep and the message "car not in park" appeared on the screen. This baffled me for a long time, I later discovered that it is only when I turn left. After more than a year I noticed that when turning left, my right elbow(resting on the armrest in the door) touched the memory buttons for the seat adjustments, that resulted in the message, as it is not possible to adjust the seats or settings with the Jeep in drive.
Could it be possible something like that, as the mirrors are also connected to the memory? ?
The Jeep was right hand drive.
As I said a wild guess!!

^Anything is worth a shot at this point. I'll take notice of my positioning next time I'm in the jeep.

mine does that. the previous owner had the key fob programmed and everytime i put the key in and start it the mirror moves back to their position.

you need to redo your memory settings...?

^I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm gonna go mess with it now, and see what happens. What a dumbass I am. I would give you rep or thanks if I could.

You should be able to give him rep, look at the post that you want to give him rep for, in the top right corner there's a little thing that looks like a scale, click it. As for giving thanks that's for level THREE site supports or moderators, ill thank him for you tonight.
