Re: Got it!

Does it replace the resonator?

Re: Got it!

Ahh, seems like the consensus on here is that the resonator really hurts the peformance. I mean our trucks are pretty much like for like, the only difference is the intake. I also ported my throttle body, but that was after i tested my 0-60.

Re: Got it!

Yeah thats what i cant understand. I mean we have the same truck for the most part. So the resonator huh, i dont really buy that its such a performance killer but there is really nothing else on the truck that is different with ours then that. I mean other than the little s curve thing on the afe, i cant see that being a performance issue... So then what i would have to do is figure out how to keep what i got and remove that resonator... I like how you had retrofitted your system with pvc. It seems like a pretty viable option. Since I have this week off, what would you suggest i need to go from afe to TB and figuring out something to do with my iat sensor?

Re: Got it!

Every truck is different even though you may have the same mods.

Just ask Frankie, Ryan (BlackPepper), and Jeremy.

Re: Got it!

That's a tuff one, from looking at your pic, the iat sensor is directly on top of the motor. It will pick up ambient heat radiating off of the engine in that location. I believe that the computer will make performance adjustments based on the intake air temperature. If that's the case, you could try relocating the sensor as far away from the engine as you can. I don't know how keen you are on drilling a hole in your intake though. If you got 50 bux to blow and a drill with a 1/2" bit, I could walk you through a complete true cai intake build.

Keep in mind, I've only ran a sub 7 second 0-60 a few times, most of the time it's right around 7.1-7.3.

Re: Got it!

Agreed about the IAT sensor issue but the programmer was reading up to 15 deg warmer than the outdoor temp so it dont seem to be heat soaked all that much.

In any case, i would like to keep the AFE at least due to what i mentioned about having the cai and water getting up in there. If i have to drive thru water when it rains heavy, which i tendo to, the engine compartment gets soaked to hell. The factory intake stayed bone dry in those cases, the afe stays pretty dry as well but a cai would just get soaked. Although you dont run the sub sevens much your average is still 1.5 sec better than mine.

Re: Got it!

Ah, water is a scary factor for sure. However, it rained heavy for almost 3 straight days here. The filter did get wet, i checked it, but the engine never ran rough. There is about a 24" vertical climb for the water to make before it would even reach the first elbow, after that there would be another 15" of pipe and two elbows for the water to travel through to get to the throttle body. It takes quite a bit of water to cause hydrolock. A few drops won't do it.

Re: Got it!

Were you doin pedal to the metal off the line? I found that there is a happy medium between flooring it and easing into it off the line. I'm sure you probably noticed the lag off the line? Feels like an eternity when you're watching those tenths of a second flying by.

Re: Got it!

Agreed but when i say i go through water from time to time i would say its pretty darn high. I had some pics on here of the Jeep in the middle of the state route i live off of under water. The other part i wanted to take pics of the Jeep in, I couldn't get out cause the water was too high lol. I don't need problems cause of the wakes or the waves off the tires getting back up into the engine compartment causing an issue.

Here is a pic haha. This alright here cause i can stand to take some pics. But down the route in the background it gets pretty deep lol.

Re: Got it!

Dude I would be a bitch and not take mine through that. Afraid of hydrolocking.
