Re: Got my Diablo Trinity Yesterday

How long is the supplied OBD port cable? Is there enough length to run it to the overhead console? And did the PC interface kit come with the Trinity? I know that they charged for the USB PC kit on the Predator...

Re: Got my Diablo Trinity Yesterday

It comes with a CD, USB Cable, OBDII Cable, Suction cup mount, and the unit itself. I just checked the cables, both are right at 6' long. It'd be a tight fit.... The connector that plugs into the unit just fit perfectly into my iphone, maybe theres extension potential? I'll check the Trinity Forum for this

Im not sure. Prob not for tuning, but the data logging it'll work Do they make a predator for the 4.7l? It seems to me that the Trinity is basically a blank unit and you set it to replicate a certain Predator based on how you set it up. If they have a predator for the 4.7L i wouldnt be surprised if the trinity works. Of course i wouldnt drop $600 until i knew this for sure!

Re: Got my Diablo Trinity Yesterday

Ok so i confirmed the ipod connector is the right one. I also found a 6' extenstion cable for $25, so that should be more than enough to get me into the overhead console. Also i have the thing taken apart right now. It's pretty simple. Im excited to see the film covering the screen is easily removable which to me ='s replaceable. I thought it was too cloudy etc.. I'll just get an ipod screen protector and put over it, actually taken apart theyre about the exact width! Man im about ready to install the diablo software into my iphone and call it a day lol

So taken apart im excited to see that yea the buttons dont need to be used (unless during the tuning phase) I'm not afraid to butcher the sunglass holder as it should be pretty easy to pop out and replace should this not work out. I think if i can find some matching color plastic, or like i said bondo and paint, its going to look clean. I plan to have nothing but the screen showing. Flip it down and there's just a screen The LED's and buttons dont really do anything that im aware of. I probably should wait until after the custom tune before making this one with the vehicle lol... Although if i run both the USB and the OBDII cable down the A-pillar it really should be ok to leave in there... Awww so many things to think about! lol Regardless it looks easy to put back together quickly worst case

Re: Got my Diablo Trinity Yesterday

Oh i was just kidding about the iphone. They just have about the same size screen and use the same connector. Im not sure why it's ok on the trinity, but that iphone software REV (http://www.devtoaster.com/products/rev/) Claims you can't legally monitor with a hard wire into the OBDII and maintains it must be a wireless connection. I wonder what would happen with that software and just using the Trinity cable hardwired into the phone? I'd guess nothing would happen as im sure the software only looks for wireless data but it'd be cool. That REV program looks cool but it seems to have some lag to it, prob because of being wireless, and it doesnt tune anything, just reads codes and monitors things

Dont' forget that Innovate has a wifi product that uses software on the iPhone/iPodTouch for virtual gauges. You can download the app free from iTunes. Here's the product page for the OT-2 (http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/ot2.php).

Too bad it doesn't allow you to tap into a Predator.... Maybe diablosport will get wise and migrate their software to an iPhone/iPodTouch app too!

Re: Got my Diablo Trinity Yesterday

Yea it'd save them on hardware costs. I just dont see why the iphone cant be hardwired in. That innovate looks like it might be better than Rev. Just based on the videos of Rev theres definitely a bit of a delay. Main reason i wanted something like that was to be able to export the data and overlay it onto my in car video from the tracks days on my CTS-V. I'd be hitting 120 on the straights and taking 90 degree turns at highway speeds and the people at work would say it doesnt look like you're going that fast! The track was like 40-60ft wide and there arent any trees etc.. to reference your speed to! Anyway Rev still didnt allow anything remotely easy to export to video.

I guess Traqmate (http://store.traqmate.com/) is still the only one that can do this successfully. I dont need the gps track layout, brake and accel lights etc all on the video though! Obviously the price was a big deterrent for how often i'd use it. I found a place that you could rent it from, but then you still had to purchase the video software part which was still crazy expensive
