Got my RER installed!! One more question...

Looks and works great....and the price was even better...255 delivered! Got one more question....when my wife bought the 2010 jeep it had the standarded (RES i believe) radio. We had the dealer order the uconnect kit for the radio....the radio has the uconnect buttons, but when you pushed them it said uconnect needed to be installed...now that I have the rer nav unit, when i push the uconnect button it responds with a list of commands I can speak...so I am assuming the rer nav unit already has the uconnect system installed....question is what do I need to make it work? I see justforjeeps offers a uconnect mic....but I thought I have read that I also need another wiring harness....so question is what all do I need to have uconnect up and running with the rer head unit? Help would be much appreciated so I can tell the dealer to refund my $390 bucks they are charging to add uconnect to the jeep....

Re: Got my RER installed!! One more question...

You should just need this for the RER Nav.

I believe that is only if you are upgrading to the RER and already have a rear view mirror with a built-in mic and want to use it with the RER.

You WILL need a harness...

When you add a model RER radio to a compatible vehicle, a special jumper harness is required to complete the installation for UConnect operation, even if you have the factory UConnect option to begin with. This is due to the conflict of having two UConnect modules - one in the vehicle, and another in the RER radio. In addition, if your vehicle did NOT come with factory UConnect you will still need a jumper harness AND will need to buy either the factory UConnect mirror with microphone, or the stand-alone Mopar microphone.

Do you have the UConnect mirror? If so, p/n is 82211666.

The item on ebay (82211649) is for vehicles without factory UConnect mirror. (Purchase of a rear-view mirror with UConnect or stand-alone microphone is also necessary).

JustForJeeps would have either cable (and mirror/mic if needed), just give them a call or send an email.

Re: Got my RER installed!! One more question...

Been researching all afternoon.
The RER needs only the stand alone mic to add Uconnect if you are not using a mirror mic. I ordered it from just for jeeps and will be testing this theory as soon as it gets here. (it will be in my '09 Ram, as the jeep already has Uconnect but no Nav, but same RER unit).
The ebay link you posted is a cable for adding RER and a dual mic mirror to a vehicle with and auto dimming mirror factory installed.

Re: Got my RER installed!! One more question...

If the Uconnect module that you had added to the RES radio is still in there, just take it and any associated wiring out. That will be the module, and a wiring harness that runs from the module to the radio, along with the mic. Then plug the cables that were plugged in to the Uconnect module, directly into the back of the RER.
I added the Uconnect module to the RES in my parents Sebring, and they sell for around $200 so you might be able to make some money back there.

Re: Got my RER installed!! One more question...

I didn't add the uconnect module to the res radio....we ordered it but it had not been installed yet when i found the deal on the rer....so I guess my jeep was uconnect ready...but not uconnect equiped...my only concern is as milous pointed out even if my jeep didn't have uconnect i would still need a jumper harness and either a stand alone mic or mirror...its obvious why i would need the mic or mirror....but not sure why the jumper harness

http://site.justforjeeps.com/guide/82211743.pdf
Installation instructions for the stand alone mic. It shows the mic plugging in to a cable that plugs in to the back of the RER.
http://www.justforjeeps.com/ucmikit.html
The item photo indicates that both the mic and this other cable are included.
Like I say, mine is on the way so I'll see when it gets here
