Re: Got stuck in the Georgia Red Clay

Well I took it to a detailing shop that a buddy of mine recommended and they flushed out the undercarriage pretty good. Thanks all for your suggestions and links. I'm now officially kicking myself for not getting 4WD....

Dude you're right in the middle. Matt has a 2x4 and doesn't have any prob's. In NY 95% of the jeeps I see are 4x4 that goes for cars too like Infinity G35/G37, Lexus IS 250's, BWM's, But in florida all those cars are RWD. Even Scott in KY wife has a RWD IS250 Lexus. But the 2x4 has better pick up IMO...

Re: Got stuck in the Georgia Red Clay

It's a Jeep, you don't need to go to a dealer just because of mud! Why waste the money and risk being flagged on warranty repairs? Just clean the hell out of it. If there's anything wrong it'll throw an engine code.

Then go back and pick a better line on the mud hole and do it all over again. Perhaps first investing in tow hooks and strap with come-along or a winch. They make a type of winch that'll fit into a tow receiver socket.

How'd the wheel get screwed up? The cladding is permanently affixed to the wheel and is not a replaceable part. You'd need a whole new wheel. Swap out the spare meanwhile. If you manage to remove all of the broken pieces be SURE to have the wheel rebalanced. A local rim repair place might be worth contacting to see if they have any suggestions.
