Grand Cherokee Stalling

Okay so I have a 2000 grand Cherokee limited with a 4.0 engine in it. I bought it from someone who hadn't changed the oil in two years so I knew there was definitely going to be some fixing to do. I bought a whole new motor and put it in, but when it warms up to 210 and even a little while after it initially gets to 210, it starts misfiring. I managed to get it to an auto zone nearby to test it and it came up with a sixth cylinder misfire. I've got new gas, put gas cleaner in it, checked fuel pressure, got new spark plugs, pcm, I've changed my throttle position sensorposition and idle air control valve, checked the catylic converter, changed the coul pack and I completely redid the head and my engine looked great while I had everything apart. And it is STILL misfiring. When I accelerate it runs perfect. But when I'm in idle it is everything in the Jeep to not shut itself off. I'm at a dead end here, and I'm running out of options. Has anyone else expierenced this problem? How did you fix it?

Re: Grand Cherokee Stalling

Welcome to the garage.
Could be a problem with the idle air control. How long did you run it? It can take some time for the PCM to relearn the idle setting. If you keep your foot on the accelerator for some time, does it change the idle? Does it idle very low?
Did you measure compression already?
By the way, you are posting in the WK section, you have a WJ. You have probably more responses when you post in the right section, besides the fact that it becomes a bit messy when posting in the wrong section.

Angry Re: Grand Cherokee Stalling

I thought the same thing. But i let it run 20-30 mins every time i start it up. I replaced the iac already, and when i first put my pc in i let it cool down to start it back up again hoping it just needed to relearn everything.
it idles extremely low, and when i'm accelerating it is perfectly normal. I've done a compression test and a chem test as well.
