oh dear, i better get home and sort that out. my dad did tell me not to mess with it! Parents are always right!

I really cant believe Jeep have made it so hard to replace\change a bulb. This most cost a fortune if i took it to jeep.

Yeah it would cost almost a hundred quid! And I thought the Ford Focus was bad, you have to take the wheel off to change the bulb!

I am actually quite annoyed. I really dont want to pull apart the bumper\fender. Argh! And I dont want to pay Jeep 100+ or more for a 30 minute job.

looks like i am stuck with the yellow lights.

Wish we had the connections within the Jeep community as they do in the states.

Re: Headlight removal

Yeah I know. The unit should pop out, I was just too wary, mostly cause it was going for its MOT the next day and I didn't want to break anything and lead to more down the drain. You're model is newer than mine and it may just be the grille that would have to come off, in which case, should only take five minutes. I'm going to have a look at mine tonight, because I know there are usually easier ways to do stupid things like this and I'm not wanting to pay to have bulbs replaced again.

Re: Headlight removal

Weird, my 08 WK CRD doesn't have the top covers for the headlights. I can see the bulbs plain as day and easily remove them from up top, mind you I have skinny fingers, lol. Maybe there is something different about the export models... I'm pretty sure I read somewhere they have self leveling even in the Halogen housings so perhaps it's put together differently.

Re: Headlight removal

I will have a look tonight after work, and take a picture. The passenger side seems possible, but there is no way i can get my hand in on the drivers side, unless you have gadget arms.

but from "memory" the drivers side has a big black box, assuming its the turbo unit about 3 behind the bulbs, and the passanger side the battery.

Re: Headlight removal

On a WJ and WK (at least '08+) the headlights can be removed without removing the bumper. If you plan on removing the WK headlights, here's a tip. Put some tape on the underside of the part of the fender that extends over the light. It takes a bit of finesse to remove the light and if you aren't careful, the sheet metal underneath that part of the fender can scratch your lens.
