HELP! Bilstein shocks just delivered and I think one is messed up

Okay, I just received delivery of these and I was comparing the two, because one would go all the way down and the other wouldn't.

One shock is missing this metal peice, but I don't know if it is needed.
It prevents the black piece on the shock from moving down. Did I get a banged up shock or is this metal peice not needed?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Tire rack said they were on back order and then I called and they sent them right away...I ordered another pair through allshocks.com, I'll let you know tomorrow if that metal ring is around both of those shocks. I haven't sent the tirerack ones back yet, so you are probably safe. Also allshocks.com has free shipping and doesn't charge tax unless you are in Mass.

i think my grand total was ~329 after shipping... not bad for a full set of shocks, im ok with that price. I didnt get a chance to call and check if they are out of stock... the real killer will be the tires those are $$$$$ :(

I hear ya brotha. Did you get front and rear SRT8 sway bars? I'm up to about $600 total, but from what everyone says it will be a huge improvement. I'll take pics and let you know, everything should be installed on Monday. Luckily, my uncle owns a shop so labor will be under $100.
