Re: Help !!! Front Bilstein don't compress !?

Update : the shock seem to compress normally... it just sit 2,5" higher than before installation...

Here some picture of my bilstein installed

p/n

How it look like sitting on the wheel, 2,5" higher than normal with my 2" lift for a total of 4,5" raise

Other photo of the shock, jack lifted or not (take a look at the ball joint):

If I calculate well, if I remove my 2" spacer lift, i'll have a total raise of 2,5"... !?

holy cow. That balljoint is looking bad. It almost looks like the strut is too long. Let me look at the part # and get back to ya.

I would try removing the 2 inch spacer and see where that leaves you just for shits and giggles.

Well... that what i'll probably do. Perhaps, I wonder if everyone else with a 2" spacer lift that installed front bilstein had to remove their front spacer also ??

Re: Help !!! Front Bilstein don't compress !?

from what I understand the bilsteins work with all lifts that dont replace thee struts/shocks. Something is not right...but I cant see anything. Maybe the upper mounts arent oriented correctly?

Re: Help !!! Front Bilstein don't compress !?

wow that does look bad, id unbolt the BJ and let it sit until we figure it out, doesnt look good at all. Thats weird, you have the right parts, Im gonna have to say that strut isnt compressing properly for some odd reason. Maybe defective from seeing those shots? If its oriented properly then Id have to lean to defective, dont know what else to tell ya, really odd.

Also want to know if the Bilstein shock body is the same length (or very similar) to your old factory shock?

Most unusual problem!

Dang! I'd call Bilsteins' tech support, as that isn't right.

Those spring perches look like they are way to high up on the strut. Might be the right part number placed on the incorrect part?

Should have 7" from the spring perch to the fork. Total strut length of 25"

Pics of stock struts below.

Re: Help !!! Front Bilstein don't compress !?

Also check that your front springs are seated correctly on the spring perch. In your pics it appears that they are not.

+1 I honestly think like Escape said above, the perch may not be on the right strut, Billstien may have had a mixup? Seems to low, thats only reasonable thing I could see having that BJ looking like it does and your Jeep being a temporary monster truck!
