I just bought a crank sensor from Advance. I pick it up dirt thing in the morning.

What size socket is needed for the bolt that holds it on?

Would I be able to get to it with a cresent wrench?

Also, a mechanic that was working on another guy's car in the Advance Auto parking lot hooked up his scanner and it gave him the same codes.

It also told him that the misfire codes were FALSE.

In the first post I said that a guy pulled the vacuum hose and caused the engine to bogg and almost die. Could the sudden engine bogg cause the crank sensor to go bad??

Nope, Crank sensor is magnetic, vacuum has nothing to do with it. If the CPS looses it's signal it will freak and die as it no longer knows how to fire your sparkplugs. It can work and then not work, then work again...it's very frustrating but and easy fix

Please do not use a crescent wrench on your Jeep. You round out that bolt and it will not be fun for you.

A hissing sound you said?

Could you identify where it came from? If not while the vehicle is running at idle try spraying a bit of starter fluid near the vacuum lines. If the engine revs up you have a leak. If not, no leak. The hissing sound makes me wonder.

This thread just gave me a headache. I have a HEMI, but just happen to have the Chilton 2005-2009 Grand Cherokee Manual next to me.

Recommend you perform the following, if I read your issues correctly:
1. Retrieve existing DTC's in the PCM and record them.
2. Disconnect negative lead from battery.
3. Install your new crankshaft position sensor and connect wiring lead.
4. Re-check all coil leads, fuel injector leads, and hose connections to the intake manifold (e.g., the makeup air for the crankcase and the gas tank vapor vent system solenoid discharge).
5. Re-check the wiring harness connections in the immediate area where the original mechanic pulled the hose.
6. Reconnect battery negative lead. Use a voltmeter to determine terminal voltage and record it.
7. If you have a vacuum gauge, connect it when you start it up. Look for a steady reading with a good vacuum. Rev engine to see the value go closer to atmospheric, then return crisply to its original value when it returns to idle. Should not be a lot of flickering; more of a steady reading. Shut down and remove gauge; reconnect original hose connection.
8. If it begins to misbehave during your road testing, go to Sears and get a professional battery load test and a terminal voltage test. The problem with a battery sulfating and beginning to fail is that it can short a cell over a bump. The entire Heep is controlled through the PCM. If terminal voltage falls low enough (e.g., through a shorted cell), strange things happen, as many other members upwards in the thread have advised you.
