Help tranny scam?

hey guys...05 WK limited 5.7 ~150mi

i was having some issues where the jeep was sluggish....I would take foot off pedal, rpms would drop then upon acceleration it was sluggish and chugging. also when in park on the slightiest of inclines i noticed i had to give it a bit more gas before it would engage...but nothing crazy....after awhile...i thought ok maybe its tranny i'll just take it in and have them take a look...

well that was today. the shop said they couldnt replicate what i had explained (but added about 3qt of tranny fluid...I thought I checked the tranny fluid however and it was fine...but now I'm also thinking that if the tranny fluid was low it might relate to that slight incline take/off problem?

Anyway, I was surprised they couldnt replicate it so I went with them on a ride and it appeared to be much better. I figured I would still try to make the chugging happen and i could barely make it happen now (almost non existant!)...however the mechanic said maybe we should just change the tranny fluid anyway since it appeared to be related..so i said ok.

I read up quickly on it, and it said it might be wiser to only drain and change filters and not to flush...so I asked them to do that only he said ok. Anyway, now they tell me tranny wont work...

They have it sitting out in the lot and they say it looks like its in 3rd gear. The mechanic said he put 7qt in (but I saw a video online tonight where a guy only drains about 4-4.5 and says the service bulletin is way off in this aspect and that putting 7 is probably too much).

Anyway, the mechanic sat there rev'ing the engine...i asked why and he said to get the fluid to circulate...but i'm thinking do you need to do that if all you did was drain it (not flush it)? Moreover, a code was thrown on the dash and when I asked about the code it was throwing and he said it was a high pressure code...(which might make sense if he put in 7qt as he says he did?) Again I dont know if this was 3qt + 4qt, or if the 3qt he initially added was also drained out...

So, now they're telling me i need a new tranny....

a) i'm pissed as you can tell...why should I have to pay for their "expert" mistake...
b) i'm wondering if they simply over filled or didnt install gasket/seal right? I also heard that there is a seal that goes in the hole where the neck of the filter goes (some people make the mistake of putting the seal on the neck of the filter first then placing it in the hole and I've heard it can fall off and cause this same issue? Comments welcome on that..

I feel like at 150,000mi the tranny should still be fine especially since it was working...(and even better when they added 3qt), and now completely dead??? I feel thats unlikely no?

Anyway Thoughts? I argued with them about this being their mistake and they asking for 1200$ for a used tranny with 85mi on it?

HELP A GUY OUT.
