Re: Helping 2005 4.7 WK MPGs

I'm hoping a Fastman will help. After I do my light mods, I'm going under the hood.

Re: Helping 2005 4.7 WK MPGs

They should sell a substitute that you can mix with your gas... That's cheaper than gas of course... Hhhmmm... Water!?? I was looking at an interesting article the other day about a system that would run a car mixed with water. From what I understood the gas runs the system so the system could breakdown the water molecules therefore running your car. And viola! There you have it folks only in your dreams... Which makes me wonder if that article had some truth to it.. That be awesome if it did.

Re: Helping 2005 4.7 WK MPGs

I think I get in the neighborhood of 14 on average... I drive just over 40 miles a day, quite a bit of up and down, and about 15 of the miles are freeway. On roadtrips I pull like 18.5 +/-.

One thing that may help some people is having the smaller tire size... I dont know if the smaller 235 65 17 is only on the 3.7? maybe, but if some of the 4.7s have the smaller tire, its less rotating mass.

Re: Helping 2005 4.7 WK MPGs

i have 32s, a fastman, magnaflow, SC flashpaq and i just changed to a wix air filter... tried the mileage tune this past weekend for an hr plus drive to the shore and it sucked. tranny kept downshifting and jumping into a higher gear earlier than it should have- obviously to keep the rpms down and the mpgs up. couldnt take it so i went back to the 87 octane tune. im avg 14mpg or more now. i did switch back to 87 gas, i was running 89 with the 87 octane tune and i was getting 11 or so for my mpg

The evic stays between 11 and 14 mpgs in city and 15 and 18 highway, i dont trust it though. Thats why i used fuelley.com and math to figure it out.

Ive been trying to be very conservative the last year or so with my driving trying not to speed and not to listen to my exhaust to much. I would love to see 22 mpgs highway but thats never happened. I think i saw 20 once since i bought it. Ive gone from doing 75/80 highway to doing 65/70 since my son was born and i just dont feel the need to chance tickets and danger as much any more.

My in city driving is mostly back roads and country driving with hills and less then perfect roads and stops every few miles, i rarely get to the down town areas.

My spark plugs are just over a year old, i did factory recommended plugs but i might change them again with mopar plugs.

Re: Helping 2005 4.7 WK MPGs

My avg is 15-16 around town and 20-23 highway. I did notice the Superchips did help my mileage using the 87 tune. The mileage tune is frustrating if you live in hilly areas, ie: New England. Too little power and no mileage gains. Before my lift and 255/70's I achieved 24 mpg traveling north to Vermont. Back roads at 45- 50 always seem to net me 22-23. But of course I'm only going by the evic. The Intake helped, the programmer helped, and I tried E3 diamond fire plugs which I don't know if helped. They claim to but so does every other spark plug maker.

Anywho, might be time for a tune up? pvc valve, plugs, seafoam it - fuel, crankcase, and upper intake, clean the air filter, EGR valve, o2 sensor - after cats.

EGR may be my next step... is there a write up on replacing this?
