Hemi engine cover appearance mod

I still consider myself new here, only a couple of posts but thought I'd post a pic of my engine cover mod with a little write up. I like the look of the intake so I ran without the cover for a while but I just didn't like the look of the coil packs or the wiring harness. I wanted to cover them up and still see the intake so I removed the JEEP / 5.7 HEMI plate, cut out the center then painted the letters and stripes with Hemi orange high temp engine paint. I tried to use a plastic primer 1st but the engine paint didn't stick to it, probably because engine paint isn't made for plastic so duh, why would it stick to a plastic primer. After re-sanding the lettering and stripes again the engine paint stuck to the plastic and cured nicely once it was exposed to the heat under the hood. Not a pro job, had a little over spray where I had trouble getting the tape to stick, no matter how clean I though I had it but I think overall a good look. Opinions welcome!

Re: Hemi engine cover appearance mod

A little different, but I like it. Kind of opens things up without overdoing it. Here's what mine look like on both my Hemi vehicles. Maybe others can post up theirs too, and let's see what's out there for the Hemi.....if it's OK with the OP.

The orange/blue may be a more traditional colors, or even appropriate for a Broncos fan, but I prefer what you did with that gold tone on the right.

Did you guys use special plastic paints for this?

Yes, those are our Bronco colors, but it also matches the Hemi orange and the blue is the same color as the vehicle. Mine is done with the stock paint with some sort of additive that is supposed to make it more flexible. I too like the gold on the green and even considered doing some sxterior trim in gold, but I thought it would probably end up looking cheesy so haven't done it.

I like the additional details. I think the effort to make it look good is what makes such a difference.
