Hemi Losing Coolant!

When I first bought the Jeep in April the Coolant Res. was near Full. My friends dad noticed that it was low 3 weeks later, so he filled it to the top. When I went to get an Oil change 2 weeks ago they filled it up again from the ADD Line. No it's right about the ADD Line. I looked at all the hoses, and nothing seems to be leaking. Check the Radiator Cap, still good. I'm guessing it's the WaterPump. I see a little bit of coolant, but can't varify if it is coolant. Anyone have this problem before? I guess it's time for new a new WaterPump. I called one shop and the guy said he would do it for $350. I called another shop and he told me $510 because he has to refill the Cooling System with new Coolant. The Jeep does have 122k on it. I guess it's time for a new one. Do I really need to change the Coolant? If so I need the Factory Orange Coolant. Where could I get it from instead of the Dealership?

the 5.7L wk needs the dealer coolant sadly...but did you check the oil? make sure your not leaking coolant into there, it should be like a brown milk shake if you are. Also check to notice if you get alot of steam from your exhaust, could be burning it away.

You do not need the mopar coolant, you can get the right hoat coolant at NAPA. You also do not need to replace all the coolant in order to replace the water pump. Personally, if I had a used Jeep with that many miles on it, I'd probably do a full flush and coolant change as part of replacing the water pump. Might as well replace the t-stat too while you are at it. ;)

X2, Joe. You sure don't want to have to go back and mess with it again in a few months. A little preventive maintenance goes a long way, IMO.

I've just noticed that I am getting a few drops of anti-freeze on the right side after the WK sits overnight. Looks like it only happens when it's cold as I have never seen anything under it while parked after driving it. I'll be putting it up on the hoist in a day or so and see if I can find out where it's coming from. Already checked around the coolant recovery tank, but didn't see anything.

Looks like a radiator leak, need some minor fix like checking the piping or soldering some seams

The guy said you must do it. I told him you don't have to and tell me the price without changing the fluid. He's like You have to in order to take the air out( In an angry voice) I told him I'm not dumb and hung up. I will go to NAPA and buy some and will also buy a T-Stat! Thanks guys! But I'm going to wait another week if it keeps doing it again. Then I will do it.

Well, I finally found out where it was coming from (The Leak). I was changing the spark plugs on my Jeep yesterday and I saw liquid dripping. Sure enough it was Orange and my Coolant Resevoir fluid was below the ADD Line. The leak was coming from the WaterPump. I just ordered a new one from www.MoparPartsAmerica.com for $78 plus a new Gasket for $7. And bought a new T-stat. I found a local place named NAPA and they had some Zerex G-05 Coolant, so I bought to Gallons of that.

I think my water pump is leaking too on my 05 Hemi. Was it hard to change the water pump? Also, will putting in a 180 tsat in make the water pump leak ? I got the 7/70 warranty on my jeep has anybody used it to fix this part.

You need to use Zerex G05 50/50 mix is what to use. My radiator finally burped out all the air. I had the water pump changed I guess the dealership did not burp out the air. I put about half a bottle of the Zerex G05 50/50 mix in there it is all good. If you are drinking alot of coolant let the resovor go to empty, open the raditor cap a look in when cold, If it is full there the air should be out fill the resovor up.

I think I have a little spray here and there. I'll check again tomorrow. I'm about to pick up my fathers Waverunner. SO I'll see if I see any coolant spray.

I know people have been trying to fixed this problem, but no one has come up with a solution?????
