HEMI MDS "jerk"

Hi there I have just bought a Grand Cherokee 5.7 HEMI MY2007 (WH, in Italy). 65000Km.

I have read about the HEMI "jerk" when the MDS activates, and actually although being almost unperceivable, I can feel it!!

I got the PCM updated from the dealer (bulletin #18-006-10) and the defect is limited now to a higher speed range, however.... it's there!

I have read that oil is the most important player here; unfortunately I have no idea what oil has been used in the past, so I will have to wait for the next oil change, possibly filling in Pennzoil Platinum 5W20.

Is there a way to check-out if unproper oil has been used in the past?

What are you thoughts? Anyone felling this issue? Did anyone flash the PCM disabling the MDS?

Re: HEMI MDS "jerk"

My only thought would be to not wait and change the oil as soon as you get a chance. Remember 5w20 synthetic. Pennzoil is good oil, never had any problems with it before.

Re: HEMI MDS "jerk"

Blackpepper's right, change it now. It's not that expensive, and then you'll know what's in it for sure. If you want to shut it off, you'll have to purchase a Diablosport or Superchips Tuner to do the job. IMO, not a bad purchase in any case. If you want to monitor MDS useage you can add the MDS "ON" light that I came up with for the Hemi LX platform. The wiring is the same and the job is actually easier on the WK than it was on the LX. Here's the link for it under my screen name, magnuman.

Re: HEMI MDS "jerk"

I'll defintely go for the proper oil.
Then I'll take a look at the Diablo, however they warn you about the tool may not work on export models like mine (WH). Still waiting for an answer from their technical support.
